SLARI concludes European Union/Boosting Agricultural Food Security Projects (EU/BAFS) training on Project, Financial Management, and IT.
Recognizing the importance of staff as critical pillars in ensuring any project becomes a success, their capacity should be enhanced to enable them to measure up with the principles of that Project. The training of staff members in these components (project, financial & IT Management) of the Project is fundamental in improving the skills and expertise in delivering a quality job.
It is on this premise that a total of 35 staff members from three beneficiary centers (Kenema Forestry Tree Crops Research Centre (KFTCRC), Kabala Horticultural Crops Research Centre (KHCRC) , Teko Livestock Research Centre (TLRC) and SLARI Headquarter gathered at Teko in Makeni from the 21st - 23rd June 2019 to train in these areas that are of great importance to the implementation of the EU/BAFS funded Project. In his opening address, the Acting Director-General of SLARI Dr. Matthew L.S. Gboku outlined the objective of the workshop: "to provide all the participants with a forum to discuss, share experience, provide guidance and improve on the project planned activities, devise strategies for the implementation of the project and in totality strengthening them in delivering project objectives." Project Coordinator Dr. Peter Musa in his submission, remarked that after this training participants would be well positioned to identify their individual roles and in-depth understanding of the project blue prints leading them to a successful implementation of the project. Training facilitator, Mr. Peter SaSellu CEO of African Consulting Group, admonished participants that this training will enhance their requisite skills in their defined assignments and their focus for the entire session of the training is paramount so that they can fully harness these skills. Closing the training workshop, Project Coordinator Dr. Peter Musa thanked all participants for availing themselves and making relevant contributions to the training. He praised the Officer-In-Charge of TLRC Dr. Duada Yillah for the hospitality and ideal environment provided for the training. He admonished all to go and put into practice the best practices that have been so far acquired. |
