ACTING DIRECTOR GENERAL’S END OF YEAR MESSAGE Colleagues, As we approach the end of 2020, it is a good time for us to look back, as an institution, to reflect on our achievements and to strategically look forward, to see what we need to accomplish during the course of our operations in 2021.
Nevertheless, I couldn’t be prouder of how we have continued to move forward despite the numerous and considerable challenges we have been facing in ensuring our research goals are actualised.
First, I would like to express my condolences to the bereaved families of our great colleagues who passed away during 2020, and send my thoughts and prayers to everyone who has been affected by this terrible virus – COVID-19. I pray that this epidemic will soon be exterminated from our country and the rest of the world.
I would as well like to particularly thank our great scientists across the centers, who in diverse ways contributed a lot in ensuring SLARI milestone projects are successfully implemented.
I wish you moments of peace amid these immense difficulties and let you know that I have been touched by your countless acts of thoughtfulness and cooperation. You all have my admiration and continued support. I salute our supportive partners and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) for their continuous support. Their shining example makes us proud as a research institute.
Many thanks to our team of senior staff at our Head Quarters for their professionalism, resilience and positive attitude towards their job. Without the resourcefulness, creativity and work ethics you showed, it would have not been possible to carry on, considering the numerous challenges we encountered during our research activities in 2020.
Finally, I humbly express my sincere thanks to all SLARI staff across the centers. It has been a difficult year for so many, but I am thankful to you all for keeping SLARI active, vibrant and vigorous. Keep your team spirit high as this will help us as an institution to achieve our milestone in 2021.
Compliments of the season. May the New Year brings you good health, happiness and prosperity.
