Mustapha Sly Bayon

Aquaculture and Fish Nutritionist  
Mr. Bayon is a Fish Nutritionist specialized in Fisheries and Aquaculture and is presently the Acting Officer-In-Charge for Freetown Fisheries Research Center (FFRC). He studied Bachelor of Science (Hon) in Environmental Sciences (Fisheries and Wildlife Conservation option) in 2010 from Njala University, Sierra Leone. He holds a Certificate in Fishing Gear Technology in 2013 from Astrakhan State Technical University Astrakhan State, Federation of Russia and a Master degree in Aquaculture and Fisheries Management in 2016 from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State, Nigeria. Mr. Bayon joined Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute since 1st May, 2012 in the position of Research Assistant for Sustainable Development and later promoted to the rank of Research Scientist/Officer attached to the Freetown Fisheries Research Centre (FFRC) in Freetown. As part of his responsibility in the centre he is presently the Head and manages the staff and resources of the Research Centre. He has also undertaken several collaborative researches in fisheries and aquaculture and has authored and co-authored some research papers. Mr. Bayon is always ready for any collaborative research work in areas of concerns. His works are related to Environmental and natural resources development. His research interest areas include but not limited to, fish nutrition and health; fish and aquatic resource management; Freshwater fisheries; Conservation and sustainable development; sustainable livelihood & food security through aquaculture; value addition and market dynamics of aquatic products; climate change effects on agriculture and fisheries & wildlife.
